When your IT Director pays $10k+/yr for a database and it doesn't even have an API... and you worked 100+ hrs on developing your own...

    but if you replace it with something that's not shit, well, that'd take like twice as much time/$ to that going as we waste ever single month trying to keep this thing from falling apart. ok sure you would only need to spend 1/10th of the time maintaining the thing going forward, but it'd be "too much work"

    oh you need some new feature? let's just glue it into the existing 8 year-old, never-refactored-codebase on top of the 20 other undocumented parts of the project which were written by a dozen different developers who no longer work here.

    I don't see any issue with the project using ruby, .net, spring, code igniter, and cold fusion! they work!

    and no you can't refactor it! that'd be a waste of time! leave me alone, I got to figure out how this code Ryan wrote in 2007 works
