When you realize that commands like :wq / :q! / :x aren't getting you anywhere because you're in sublime not vim. I've begun my descent into a vim fan boy...

    I think there are packages that will bring you those same commands

    i made a bash alias for :wq that prints out "That only works inside vim, idiot" just to try and kick the habit.

    I use the vim-auto-save plugin configured to save after 400 ms of inactivity. Then I have tmux with a shell in a separate window where I build and run. So I just need to edit, then switch the tmux window and compile. If something goes wrong, there's undo and git to fix that 😀
