    Yes tim, everyone can code but few are competent enough to make a career from it.

    It's belittling to coders everywhere to say anyone can code. Why do they have interviews then? Just throw a stone. Hire whomever it lands on right?

    @rkzo I think it's more of a 'you can do anything if you put your mind to it' type of statement.

    I hate the "everyone can code" push they are having. it's nice to have people know coding and I would certainly love more developers in community, but let's just except it everyone can't code

    My reply to this kind of statement is usually:

    Yes; anyone can code, coding is easy; software engineering is hard.

    Think about it anyone can buy bricks and build a half decent wall but would you let them build your house?
