    Soo true...
  • 37
Most of the time it IS progress :)
  • 57
I don't know why, and if it's normal, but I'm really happy when I get another error message...
  • 9
    Always 😂
  • 26
Omg just joined and read this! So true and too funny
  • 9
Best way to narrow down bugs!
  • 8

yay, two more different errors after the latest hotfix. Progress just doubled!
  • 3
    "Yeay!".
  • 4
    omg yess 😂😂
  • 2
    Lol... Overly true
  • 6
In my case .. It's many times a sign of something else broke preceding the earlier bug while fixing it

    #reverseProgress
  • 6
@bakablah is it weird knowing that a great majority of your points come from this post alone?
  • 3
    @tisaconundrum yep I know lol

  • 2
@dfox The current number of upvotes is cut off by the ++ and -- buttons...would be nice to see it. :-)

I'm on iOS btw if that matters. Using iPhone 6.
  • 2
@mzgaljic thanks for the heads up. This is fixed on Android and will be fixed in the iOS version going out tomorrow.
  • 2
    @dfox you're the man!
  • 3

Omfg! 1.2K upvotes? This is insane!
  • 3
@SweetHuman what's funny is that the guy only has 1245 points which means almost all his points are from this single post 😁
  • 2
@liammartens and he is really inactive.
  • 3
@SweetHuman not as inactive as you think. I enjoy reading rants more than writing them :p
  • 1
@bakablah oh. Why don't you have a profile?
  • 5
@SweetHuman because I'm an early user to devRant and I enjoy static Color backgrounds?
  • 2
    @bakablah oh. I love profiles.
  • 3
@thmnmlst pretty darn awesome actually :)
  • 1
then you find it's caused by a wrong fix of the first error.
    ErrorsOverFlow
  • 1
    Exactly..!!
  • 1
    Ohh it's soo true!!
  • 1
Hahaha I’ve had that feeling many times
  • 2
As long as you don't get back to the first error message
  • 1
99 Little bugs in the code, tale one down, patch it around... 127 Little bugs in the code..
  • 2
All hail 'error message'~ for given us path to progress
  • 1
    This is literally my life
  • 1
On solving that error, we will find one more error. More progress.
  • 0
I truly laughed out loud when I read this because this is pretty much my WHOLE debugging method.
  • 0
I get notifications of comments in this rant pretty often (I guess that as all devRant)
  • 0
5 min later same error again
  • 0
I love error messages, hhh i know it seem strange to say this, the stressed, trying to focus and manage your idea to find a solution, sitting the whole day and maybe more than one day searching about that error msg and at the end you solve it, that why i love in programming
  • 0
    more like more error messages
  • 1
you just applied cold water on the burned area!
  • 0
Next attempt, no error messages, "FUCK!"
  • 0

  • 0
well, things might actually be nastier if you just hit a segmentation fault

    ;__;

Every time the line identifier increases, I take a drink of coffee in celebration
  • 0
I neee this as a motivational poster
  • 0
I consider myself very new to programming and I already get this. funny. ++
  • 0
In the DevOps universe, I love that an error result is a mark of forward progress...
  • 0
I just clatter my keyboard until the error goes away, or hides under an if statement, kind of like my goals.
  • 2
Then you realize the error changed because you wrote another error before the line of the previous error
  • 0
Finally catch the whole crap and add skidmarks like log.info ("foo"); or log.warn ("FOO"); just, because a log-level of DEBUG would boost your screen.
  • 2
    So true it hurts
  • 0
    Thank god!
  • 0
    Sad, but true.
  • 0
    Relatable...
  • 0
    lol so true
  • 0
It's funny because it actually just happened to me lol
  • 0
No error messages. How is this working??
  • 0
"Not only do I have a issue, but it has been deepened by something I don't know what"
  • 1
*opens a new tab* "now what the hell does this mean?"
  • 1
... Until you realize you made an *additional* error, not get rid of an old one.
  • 1
Whoops no just made a typo. Same error is still there.
  • 1
    I felt that
  • 2
I prefer to get an error message than code without an error but not doing what I tried to intend.
  • 1
👨🏼‍💻Come up with a lot of errors and solve it the you never do the same mistake.🙋🏼‍♂️
  • 1
Done for the day, back at it tomorrow.
  • 1
Feel the same way! (1st post woohoo)
  • 1
that moment when you’re like: oh no what the Frick I just got a flipping error message and my is f#$&ing flawless. So you spend hours scanning through your code that 2 frickin’ days to make! And suddenly you find out your error was you spelling print as: PHRINT
  • 2
    @Kernelovic Change is good 🙂

I love node error message , there is a error around "( "

    yeah , which one?
  • 0
Managed to blind-code for over 30 minutes, creating new controllers, binding to routes and views, and when I finally ran it I had NO errors. This is the definition of a good afternoon. And one that will probably never be repeated.
  • 0
No but really. In C and Python this is *ALWAYS* a sign of progress.
  • 0
Thank you so much for ensuring. It's a pleasure to know that you got some progress. All the best!
  • 17

  • 0
It means progress, that's great news
  • 0
you're right, most of the time it says it is in progress. Google
  • 0
as long as it's an error with meaning.
  • 0
When you find out that the new error is only an issue with the fix for the first error...
  • 0
