I used to like devRant... then it was flooded with 5 year old shit post memes :(

It's still decent. And what you said is bound to happen. Look what happened to 9GAG. It used be the meme generator of internet. Now it's just recycled Reddit posts.

I see less memes recently. Love the community. Tried Reddit, Yik Yak... I am focused on devRant for the long haul.

Not sure what time period you're referring to but there aren't any more memes now than there were 13 days ago or past that.

Like @g-m-f said, if you don't like them, then properly downvote when applicable. Realize that memes/images are pretty popular because a lot of people enjoy them. I'm not saying you should enjoy them, but there is a reason they continue to get posted.

There's a pretty popular Facebook group for developers where they actually banned memes. Instead of getting more quality content, they now have a lot less content and it's still all of pretty bad quality. The content on devRant is exponentially better, with being able to include memes/images, mainly due to our format and the democratic voting process.

Also, just as some basic statistic - I scrolled down a little and counted the 80 most recent rants, not including ones marked as re-posts which you can hide if you want.

    79/80 were non-memes...

The reason behind the memes in the past was because gifs and other image features were added. Just like any software, new features are over used in the first 2 weeks of its deployment.
