Does anyone here use Spotify? I'd love to make a shared list where people put their favorite songs for developing in.

    Why not

I do, but I am pretty sure no one will enjoy my contributions xD
  • 1
@yarwest yeah if you have an odd taste in music
  • 10
Sounds like a good idea until you hear something really chilled out like paulo nautini followed by slayer from a sysadmin

  • 1
@anasmy not necessarily odd but like... not what people usually listen to
  • 0
@Minzkraut aiming for a certain genre?
  • 2
@yarwest Not at all, I want to discover new things.
  • 0
@Minzkraut then the next reasonable question is, what do you usually listen to?
  • 0
I'll add some of my personal favorites, consider yourself warned
  • 2
@yarwest when you see Korean (I guess) in the title and are like "wtf does that even mean"
  • 2
    @Minzkraut chinese, close enough ;)
  • 1
@Minzkraut challenge: listen every song to the end, it might not seem like your shit right away, most of it wasn't for me when I first heard it either. But certain ones certainly have their beautiful parts. Otherwise you can always toss it all away :) I don't mind either way. I just hope someone discovers something new and enjoys it.

I only use Spotify when I'm driving because radios nowadays only streams gibberish and repeats songs. Might share my playlist as well later
  • 2
I followed it... Are non English contributions allowed?
  • 1
There is a public playlist with the soundtrack of Civilization IV. Fits the developing bill perfectly!
  • 1
@Minnow I did chinese and polish and more so far, so I'm assuming yes
  • 2
@Minzkraut I'm done for now, gotta study, let me know what you think and if you want more ;)
  • 2
I mean, in my humble opinion the list is great so far :) already copied it in case people want to remove certain stuff (which you should totally do, I don't mind at all and I can fully understand that some stuff isn't what you are looking for)
  • 3
@yarwest I'm not going to remove anything, and I think everything should stay in case someone cones by who really finds something he loves. I'm only 10 songs in so far but there's already songs that made it into my private favorite list.
    Thanks
  • 1
@Minzkraut you didn't make it to the harder stuff yet ;) good to hear tho :D
  • 2
someone add Rick Astley for the lulz
  • 3
@d4ng3r0u5 I actually like that song lol :D it's in there
  • 1
@d4ng3r0u5 this was a good list till @Minzkraut added rick astley

all jokes, add whatever you want
  • 3
    @yarwest HAHAHA [Laughing crying emoji]
  • 4
@yarwest There is no truly good programming song list without "push it to the limits"
  • 0
@Minzkraut the age difference is starting to show xD
  • 1
I am totally up for @Minnow 's music taste tho
  • 3
@yarwest I'm not aware of your actual age... mind sharing?

my avatar isn't a complete fantasy, both beard and tats (tho a bit smaller) are present. just putting that out there.. :p
  • 3
@yarwest weeellll, it also mentions my age in the bio, so the image is the least of advantages [laughing emoji]
  • 1
    @Minzkraut this is awkward
  • 0
@Minzkraut I'm going to blame the black and white :p sorry, didn't mean any offence ._.
  • 1
@Minnow thanks for the spam :D
  • 2
@yarwest It's not only that, it has been altered by "Prisma" quite a lot. That app is really good at making absolutely everything look old.
  • 0
    @Minzkraut still feel a tad bad .-.
Surely my biggest face palm today
  • 1
Add me on SoundCloud instead. Tobias0205. And the Playlist called lekse
  • 0
@Minzkraut did you get to the harder stuff? I'm curious what people think of bands like Ice Nine Kills and Beartooth
  • 2
@yarwest Yeah I actually got to it... and it's pretty convenient because I can't get distracted from songs where I can't understand wth they're singing ;)
I do like some of them
  • 0
    @Minzkraut glad to hear :)
  • 1
Have people had much luck with getting started with Spotify's Android SDK? I have followed the tutorial pretty well and cannot get my app to authenticate for the life of me. I have premium and I am logged in on my phone.
  • 2
@mamm0th Didn't even know they had one
  • 1
Followed it. I'll Chuck it on at work and see how the devs like it.
  • 1
@Minzkraut It is in beta, and IIRC it has only been out for 2 years.
  • 2
@yarwest Beartooth sound pretty good :D
  • 1
@ElCapitan HELL YES this is the result I'm looking for :D glad you enjoy it dude, I blast that stuff all the time.
I mean, they do say 'the less you associate yourself with beartooth lyrics, the less depressed you are'
    with they being me :p

    oh well
  • 1
@yarwest Never thought that metal could sound that good normally that's not my Genere but will definitely check out some more songs from this band
  • 2
@ElCapitan thats exactly what I thought when my friend introduced me to it. It kinda grew on me later because of him. Let me know if you need some more stuff :)
  • 1
@yarwest I love the little punk vibe I get from the songs if you could name some more band with this kind of genere I surely would take your recommendations :)
  • 2
I have an odd affection for the music from the Sims from builder mode.
  • 3
Okay.. who just Rick rolled my while dev team? Hahahaha
  • 3
I don't think people will appreciate my death metal...
  • 1
@n1had I think it is safe for you to rethink that :)
  • 3
    Guys I'm
Loving the playlist! Keep it up. It's awesome!
  • 2
Who put "Never gonna give you up" In?
  • 3
@matsj it says that next to the song somewhere. it was me
  • 3
@Minzkraut it's hard (or not possible) to see in the app. You gave me a smile on the bus home from work! Thanks!
  • 2
@ElCapitan aight so it took me a bit to find stuff but, it seems that the most recent album from Attack Attack! is very beartooth-esque https://youtube.com/playlist/...

The band Stick to Your Guns also has a number of songs that share the same style.

On top of that I found something new :) Mongolian Folk Metal, the band is called Tengger Cavalary. It's crazy but I think the mix of old and new really works great. Especially in this song:

@yarwest Thank you man hope it wasn't to much work for you. I'll surely give them a dry :)
  • 1
@ElCapitan ofc not, its never a pain to listen to good music :D
