    @McBrown
    Why? Please don't fuel this.
  • 1
    @JakeHL why not?
    I found it kinda funny

    @JakeHL you are right πŸ˜œπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ˜‚

    Well OK you guys won ^^

    @McBrown I forgot this is devrant, not devFun. I am so used to double tap now that I try to do it on 9GAG too.
    Unfortunately I can't post this on 9GAG as people there won't understand.

    @navi some of them surely would but would not make it to 1k+ up votes

    I just don't want to see this gem of a community become another reddit/9gag/funny junk repost meme factory.
  • 1
    I understand your concerns very well. But repost are deleted here way more reliable than on 9gag, in fact, at 9Gag they don't get removed. It works really fine here

    Never mind guys, I will remove this post.
    Everyone's already frustrated who visit here, why upset them more.
  • 1
    Duh, there is no way to delete via the app.
    Will do it tomorrow. I hope people won't loose their minds till then.

    @JakeHL this isn't a random nyan cat post dude, it is a dev related joke, and it will be particularly appreciated here. chill, i'd say.

    Jesus Christ, who gives a fuck? I can't believe shit like this actually gets people mad. People need to calm down. I don't know how many times I have to say it, if you don't like a post, why get involved and boost its rank by commenting instead of just downvoting and moving on with your life?

    It's one 10 word post, that I actually thought was decently clever and someone else pointed out is sort of dev related...

    And I'm not saying we don't/won't moderate posts, but come on, this has literally been attempted one time. And overall rants directly asking for ++ are very low. Why is that? Simple, because it doesn't actually work. So not many do it. When it does happen, they generally go nowhere. Self moderation! IMO better than having moderators who sometimes get power happy and decide on their on whim what's acceptable content and what's not.

    The problem isn't just rants asking for more ++ though. devRant as a community has been getting more and more off topic. If you don't catch this before it's too late then it's πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’© for all of us.

    @JakeHL what do you consider off-topic? Keep in mind that definition isn't exactly the same for everyone.

    We try to keep that a democratic process. Yes, if people are talking about something completely irrelevant that has pretty much no interest to a dev community then we hide it. But otherwise, a democratic process seems better to me.

    The whole purpose of devRant is it isn't a rigid community like StackOverlfow. Me removing every rant that veers slightly off being an explicit angry rant but is instead dev related and maybe not a rant doesn't really help in fulfilling that vision.

    @dfox
    I guess you're right. It's your community. It's just that what devRant seems to have been when I first started using it doesn't seem to be what it's like today.

    Its rare that a community like this stays this way and that's why I think myself (and others) get upset when it seems like it's becoming another 'x' meme machine.

    I'll just stay quiet and keep to the content I enjoy I suppose.

    If what you say is true though and the offtopic shitposting hasn't got worse lately, maybe your algo is broken and its torturing me.

    I'm kidding. πŸ™ƒ

    Love you.
