    @oskaremil come on... In the tech business do open source is like donating to Africa in "real life", Microsoft does proprietary software, the rest is just a show.

    @oskaremil uh, I still think that's all a staging.
    "Oh, look at us, we do open source!!"

    @altermind Microsoft has the most open source contributors on GitHub. Sorry not sorry.

    Continue to have unfounded hate for Microsoft please. Yawn.

    EDIT: Just seen @oskaremil's post which states the above.

    .net
    Apache Cordova
    PowerShell for Linux
    TypeScript
    msbuild
    plugins and tools for any imaginable (OK, that was an overstatement) framework or infrastructure

    Looks more like a strategy than a show off to me

    @drRoss I see, I'm not trying to prove otherwise, I dont even hate ms, what I was saying is that, IMHO, everything MS is doing on open source is not because the support it, it is just because nowadays do open source for the big companies is like act of goodness. It is just business man, so no love for open source from ms

    @oskaremil strategy, show, whatever you want but NOT love for the open source philosophy
  • 1
    @altermind So what? It benefit's everyone. Get over it.

    @drRoss I was originally referring to the first oskamarill comment, which was trying to justify the hypocrisy of the guy that was saying to love open source and then accepted a job at Microsoft. So no need to get over it

    @altermind what @Christine said 🙂

    @oskaremil agree with her, but you were defending by saying that Microsoft did open source projects... Anyway I see no clue on continuing this conversation

    embrace, extend, extinguish... Just saying

    @elgamine Add that to the junk pile of Microsoft hate comments from 2005. So old. So boring.

    @drRoss yet you took time to read then comment, I'd call it rather entertaining

    It's just a way to offload work to a whole community rather than your few developers, that's why multiple companies have open source project, they are turning to making money with services and cloud infrastructure over selling proprietary products .

    @Christine A good quote from one of my favorite authors have a thumbs up 👍

    There's plenty of reasons to not like Microsoft. Open source contributions certainly aren't one of them though. They do a huge number of contributions. Even to the Linux kernel is i remember rightly.

    Microsoft is starting to open source. Slowly

    @edisonn A weapon?! Are you insane? Oh no! Open source PowerShell?! How dangerous!!!!
  • 0
    On your free time you can contribute to open source and get a job on a proprietary software. Sometimes just go where the money is :-)

    @edisonn I didn't thought about this problem. I guess you can always keep secret the stuffs you are doing at home. Contribute with a unrecognizable username on github.

    It's a shame by the way, as long as you are not copying a single line of code of your company, you should be free to do what you want with your OWN knowledge.
