What is the future of #LAMP stack developer?? I've moved to #symfony around 2 year from other framework.

Should I move to new language/technology?

Let my comment for future reference. I'm also curious about the LAMP vs LEMP stack :)

IMO if you wanna do webdev Symfony is a great choice. I've played with a lot of stuff including Java, Ruby and NodeJS but I've always come back to Symfony in the end. Then again depends on the project and the requirements. Choose the tool and language that's right for the job. E.g. Don't build a game server in php

I really like Node and the JS community. I'd recommend it.

Node may be a cool idea, shame the language itself is so randomly cobbled together.

Symphony is good... But I prefer core PHP... I like to be in control.... 😛

@javierojeda I'm originally a LAMP stack user but now I'm a LAMP stack user there is a small speed increase in my opinion

PHP is about 80% of the websites out there, and with php7 out its probably going to be more cause it eleminates the most compelling arguments against it being speed, security, and process usage. the only reason I still see is websockets and it's possible that their will be a change later on to do that.

but as for my choice I like laravel and slim framework. both are good frameworks to learn and use, I use slim most out the two cause as one guy said above I like being in control to manage my dependices

Symfony is great, I really enjoy it, good documentation. As far as I've heard, though, PHP will die in ,like, 10 yrs or so. Learning something new might help!
