Product Owner (PO) the problem with this sharing widget it loads slow and people might scroll past it.
Me: ok. Let's make it fixed on the side of the page so that it's always seen, but not intrusive.
PO: No. It's not how the brand should look. And it might cover 1% of the skin ad. Let's make our own widget.
Me: that would require to create several apps on social networks and maintain the code internally instead of using a centralised service that many people already provide. You don't have the money for that.
PO: sorry I got distracted by this bird outside the window.

Is this just sharing ? Fb etc ? Just use
"Add this" should work for what he wants...

But it ain't hard to take code for widgets and make your own version of that ?

@FitzSuperUser that's the thing they don't want to use AddThis. And it is if you want to get the counts which require API calls, which
    1/ have a request cap
    2/ APIS change quite often

@skein then look into getting stats using google analytics, they will always work, instead of widget APIs that could fail.

It's simple bit if JavaScript ... Just sends a ... User clicked on to analytics

Then all you need is html from the widget you used

@FitzSuperUser oh crap accidentally hit report instead of reply. So sorry

@FitzSuperUser on the analytics thing. That would work, but if somebody removes the like it will not be decremented in analytics

@skein you can program that in ?

Essentially... Track if they previously liked if so, they unliked ?

Just have a cookie for it 😎

@FitzSuperUser what if they unlocked it on fb side? Or what if they used one device to like and another to dislike?

@skein the percentage if users .... That are going to like then unlike then like the page is so small .... Then to also do that on another device... That like 0.05 of the population max not worth caring about
