    my bank just switched from a php site. I'm pretty sure it was a wordpress site, I was scared to use the online banking feature...

    My bank for one of my businesses(small bank) uses an .asp site that keeps telling users that they will stop supporting ie8 on July 16, 2014.

    It's come a long way and with big community frameworks like Symfony it can be very secure and scalable.

    I'd rather have an experienced PHP developer build a secure Symfony 3 site than a less experienced Java/C# developer.

    Well.. Facebook uses PHP. It's all about how it's written and how good is server security.
