    Also, it should be margin, not padding, as padding is included in width, but margin is not 😉

    @Folkmann depends which value for box-sizing you are using.

    @Folkmann I think it serves as a good representation where your initial width is defined and padding increases that size down in a different color to see how they stack.

    This is a pretty good mat design.
    But I would use the colors from the computed values tab in chrome devtools.

    The margin is the floor. It's the space around the mat, not inside

    And the width is the area your allowed to put your desk
