Today I learned that the big-endian and little-endian naming comes from Gulliver's Travels, where Lilliputs argue over whether to break eggs on the little-end or big-end!

    Break it on the big end because that's where the bubble is. You'll be able to peel off the shell with less risk of breaking the white. If you hit the little end you might even break the bubble.
    Hit it from the side and you're a heathen.

    And I never had issues with the white.....
