Tried to find an experienced .net dev for a small project but no-one ever responded (while the view counter was in the thousands).

I am either too bad at writing ads or 50 euros/hour is way too low for someone to even ask for some more info about the project.

Fuck me and fuck them too, the money will just go to Asia. At least those motherfuckers have the experience required and are not afraid to talk. Plus, they are cheaper.

Man, you just need to ask :)
What kind of project are we talking about?

Several modifications for a cart, the first was writing a plugin.

Jup 50 €/h is not very much

Here where I live people pay 99€ /hour before taxes for setup of office hardware aka technical support on-premises to a company that sends out people in training to do this.

So yup. That's way too low.

Even some less experienced JS dev colleagues of mine earn >150€ / hour as freelancers right now.

In the USA no one would do it for less than 50 per hour. Insurance and taxes take too much cut of income.

@Braintelligence indeed, the good indian outsourcing companies can charge around €50-70 / hour for their good devs.

The cheap ones are cheap for a reason, competition for talent is global, cost of living does have a fairly big impact at the lower end but becomes less noticable at the high end, If the OP only needs a single experienced developer for a short period of time then i would advise against outsourcing, an on site consultant will be cheaper despite their slightly higher hourly rates (faster communication saves time and thus money).

Outsourcing makes more sense when you need a full team for a longer period of time or need to offload grunt work from your expensive on site team.

We are based in Greece where this salary is not bad.
Also, the cheaper devs from Asia I was referring to are actually recognized for their experience on this cart and have completed many similar projects.
