A new dev hire, just said that after a Windows update all her files, settings, are deleted. Thankfully it was still in recycle bin. I don't know who's at fault, but I had a fix to this problem.

Linux. Passed her the ubuntu installer USB key.

Good luck recovering from the recycling bin when she does

    sudo rm -rf /

You fool. Has she even used Linux before?

@jlave215 maybe my rant was not complete. The OS boots up, so she took a backup of all her files which went into the recycle bin to a portable disk. The codes are in repo, so actually there is nothing critical even if she looses her data.

@drRoss she does. I don't think even an idiot would tell a non-Linux user to just switch to Linux just like that. She's quite comfortable with Linux and was using Windows as the laptop came with it by default. I've been telling her to change for a while, but she was just too lazy to do it.

@drRoss How does that matter? My parents understood Ubuntu in about half an hour and same goes for my sister (yeah they're a-techie as fuck)

Someone else who had this! Friend of mine went to lunch (locked laptop) and came back to windows 10 installed and everything gone. (I am a witness, it was really like wtf just happened)
