    You can change how wide a tab appears without touching the code at all. You can't do that with spaces, can you?

    @kamen not always. A tab could be different number of columns depending on your environment, but a space is always one column.

    @rayanon That's the point. You can make a tab appear as wide as you want, but it will still be one tab in the text file. If you want a level of indentation that's as wide as two spaces, but your colleague wants four, does that mean that you will have different codebases, each formatted to preference?
