Never EVER buy a Mac as your primary PC if you're a developer.

Back in 2014 I bought an iMac because I already had an iPhone, and being able to code on xCode and also have a Windows partition seemed perfect. It wasn't.

Soon enough, I started encountering issues. My storage was randomly filling up, my computer started getting slow despite me having a small number of start apps and still a lot of storage available, it was all a mess.

So - I installed Windows 10 using Bootcamp to use it as my main OS. All was great until I wanted a new partition of Windows so I can test some things out without damaging my stuff. I try multiple methods, none of which work because my disk is not in the right partition format, and I don't want to change it because I'd have to format the whole thing.

Whatever - I give up, and try going back to my normal partition, disappointed. Guess fucking what?! My Windows Boot was damaged! Yes, I shit you not!

So - not only was this absolute piece of shit not able to add just one more fucking partition with an OS on it, but it BROKE my main partition, and now I'm trying to recover it.

I've said it once and I'll say it again: Never EVER get a Mac as your primary computer, unless you only work on Mac/iPhone apps.

For paying 1300$, I was expecting a seamless experience with little to no issues - yet all I got is a computer that's fucking broken from it's very core.

Fuck you, Apple.

Mac os has a way of fucking up entire system if you try to undo something.

Similar thing happened with me. I thought mac os + windows on my macbook air would be perfect. Went ahead and tried bootcamp, but that piece of shit freezed. When i rebooted, more than half of storage has disappeared. Tried to undo bootcamp installation, recovered the disappeared space but the partition got fucked up and there was no way i could add that space to Mac partition to put it to use.

Apples partition manager was a piece of shit and confusing.

Finally, i was so mad that i deleted whole partition and just sent it to service people to reinstall OS.

Now, i use that macbook mostly only to watch movies, like a typical apple customer.

Display is quite amazing, expect the time it randomly changes brightness for a part of display.

@HoloDreamer I managed to make a second partition, now I'm trying to make an installation usb to repair my partition.

Not sure if they fixed this, but in lion if you ran a macbook without a battery (on AC, of course), it would assume the battery was overheating and throttle the cpu to 1~5%. Top stuff Apple, maybe if your battery hadn't inflated literally the week after my warranty ran out I wouldn't have to run the thing without it. Oh well, it was free so I guess I can't really be mad.

Am I the only one who switched to a macbook and liked it? Yeah it's flawed but much less so than Windows. Next time you could put Windows and Linux in a VM.
