First post woo

So I need some opinions guys...

Just started a new job and they are trying to force me to use eclipse rather than IntelliJ (which I have used for a good while )

I have asked for their reasoning and they simply say it's so everyone is using the same thing in the team , I think this is a pretty crap reason , especially when all the projects are created in maven , what do you all think ? Am I being unreasonable ? P.S I pay for the license myself

Personally I would say each team member uses what they are experienced and comfortable with as that's what they are most likely to be most productive using

if there isnt a load to clean up everytime you commit, go for it. what you dont want to do is affect other developer's time by releasing annoying settings files etc. this can be a big time waster for your team if they do code reviews etc...

At work it's left to us what software we use (apart from the obligatory visual studio) as everyone has there own favorite software and ways to configure it (just think sublime text packages) so it would be highly impractical to force everyone to use the same.
