    Export database, open in sublime, replace all old addresses with new address, import database and done.
    (most of the times this works)

    Velvet blues is a great url replacement plugin. I've used it countless times without issue.

    Just use something like duplicator, makes it simple

    Add to wp-config.php:
    define ( "WP_SITEURL", "http://productionurl.com" );
    define ( "WP_HOME", "http://productionurl.com" );

    OR

    Open database and navigate to the wp_options table then replace the row with siteurl as the option entry.

    You can also run duplicator or some other backup plugins. It automates the task of replacing all the URLs. I use All In One WordPress Migration and works just fine.
