Do you think Facebook developed different " stories" for each platform . Or just copy paste the code !?

I would suspect it's a generic back end with the various front ends tapping in​to it as they need. Both of the ways you describe are monumentally bad.

They acquired 2/3 of those companies so...

Performance wise, they work better on Instagram (and I guess other apps to. I don't use it on Whatsapp and dont have fb and messenger) than Snapchat does on any device. Snapchat is still the real innovator here.

@flag0 yup i guess u r right. I think it well suited in Instagram.
Non of my WhatsApp contact use it anyway.

And j guess the issue with Snapchat is discoverability .
It just more easy on Fb platforms to find new contacts and friends.
