Hoping to find a company where they value their dev team more than their client. 😢

Yeah Keep looking, good luck on that!

Perhaps a dev company owned by Richard Branson?

Unlikely, since clients are the reason dev teams exist.

Agreed, but at the same time I think @saiphp also makes a valid point in the sense of "never bite the hand that feeds you!"

@jlave215 And clients wouldn't exist without devs to create the thing they are selling.

They don't exist, they can't. Problem is, as much as a company cares for the dev team, the clients inevitably pay thier salaries.

I am heading for my 4th company as a dev and 2 of them cared a hell of a lot for the staff, my current one especially. I have already turned down jobs offering me double my salary because of how nice my company is. Only reason I am leaving is because the whole package was too good.

My new boss is an old client, awesome guy and very tech savvy, great pay bump, more leave and a title bump too, on top of all that it is a brand spanking new product and I get in from pre foundation, week 1 will be sitting with the team deciding tech and tools. Best of all, I work from home. Daily commute for from n hour each way to understand 3 seconds.

@kaqqao Then describe how products come to be?

@kaqqao Fair enough but i don't quite carry the same sense of worthlessness.

@kaqqao And that is where we start to differ but that is cool.

I know exactly how things work and play down the fact i know but i am not driven and never will be driven by money.

@kaqqao Money unlocks options but having all the options takes away the satisfaction they bring.

@kaqqao I get that, companies mostly exist to generate money but there are *some* exceptions.
