Check Sager laptops. I find them "Bang for the buck".

Chromebook. No hard drive, so it's cheap, and you have to be connected to the internet, and unless you use repl.it, you can't code wait nevermind chromebook sucks

For programming, thinkpad t series. Thinkpad x1 series of you wanna sleek look and can sacrifice a bit of power.

Lenovo v110 is the best bang for your buck imo, Except for the screen, it's amazing for ~$400
  • 2
@SpencerBeige You can code on a chromebook

I would suggest to avoid Lenovo laprops and Windows overall.
On the other hand Thinkpads are still super solid.

Mac is always a good choice but is very pricey.

@devRandom depends... I do web development and i need to make sure the things i do works well on touch screens like tablets and so. If you dont use it and you have the option to take it out and saving a buck... Do it

@devRandom I don't have it but I'm going for it. It's also go for the 1080p Bit it only comes with 500SSD and 16 GB Ram.

Colleague has the touch and he does use it occasionally. Barely see him using the mouse anymore. It's all a combination of keyboard and touch to place the curser where he needs it.

@devRandom I've got 500ssd now but I'm starting to run out but what really gets me is the 16gb RAM limit.

Ive got 256GB ssd on my xps.
I've got windows and Arch installed. Also I've kept 30GB unallocated for any other OS if I want to install in the future.
So even 256GB is kinda sufficient for me.

@marodok oh yeah. Those look pretty sweet too. There was another one coming out through a Kickstarter that was a Linux laptop with hardware on off switches for camera and microphone, can't remember the name though.
