At my last job, my boss would constantly tear my work apart, belittle me and patronise me. He didn't really understand web development and just wanted to hire someone to do it for him. I ended up burning out and he persuaded me to quit because of it cause he didn't want to go through the whole disciplinary process (because he had no real reason).

A year later, and I've had my first review with my current boss, who's also a developer. He said he's learned a lot from me, I've helped the business and the junior devs grow; and that he struck gold in hiring me. I've got no feelings of burnout and I actually enjoy going to work now.

I'll be the first person to say that I'm not the best developer on my team and my new boss was probably exaggerating with me a little bit, but it goes to show that the people you work with are some of the most important people in your life.

@mortanius If there's anything I learned from this, it's that you're in control of your own life. If you want to see a change, you need to be the driving force in making that change. I really hope it works out for you!

Great story and the moral is spot on. I've worked in some crap places, but my current job is great, and the people I work with are the most important factor. Especially true of the team leader - the finest technician I ever worked with and an all round good guy with it.

@unhappy404error Unfortunately in a lot of situations, you have to be a dick to get into a high-level position like that. Playing their game usually works, even if it means you have to hold back a little bit. All of it is experience under your belt though 🙂

    Me too!

At my last project, i started off as a junior developer. Constantly being belittled by my team lead.

I reach the breaking point of burn out. Eventually i broke and reach out to external party for help.

To get me out of the project. No regrets. Despite i got blame by the project manager for doing so.

If previously it was enough to produce a product, now more weight is given to the efficiency of its production, labor productivity, stability and accuracy, as well as the reduction of resources for the operation of the enterprise, and this is impossible without such tools as this https://airslate.com/workflow/...
