    More like Slapman in that image.

    Is it a bird, is it a plane? NO, it's Slapman coming to save the GNU/!

    I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

    I sorry but I don't get it .. you know what we are talking about when we say Linux..

    @Linux

    I feel like calling it Linux is just fine.

    It's not called FFmpeg/VLC or V8/NodeJS either. Part of releasing open source code is accepting that people are going to reuse it, and that while they usually have to include license and contribution information, it's insane to demand that they keep chaining the brand name for any library they use.

    Or should it be Gnu/Linux/Android as well? And what about mods based on Android?

    GNU/Linux*

    @Linux if you are okay with leaving out things and replacing them with a wildcard, then I'll stick to Linux*

    Seriously, attribution is important, but if you love your software you have to live with the fact that it might be better for everybody if it's distributed under an easier name

    @Huuugo
    I am amused that people write long arguments about why it is easier to say Linux instead of GNU/Linux
