We were lucky enough to have Bjarne come to our college campus once to talk to us about C++. It was the first language I learnt so it has a special place in my heart. I asked him about the future of C++ against the other new Object Oriented languages coming up. Oh boy, what he then said made me laugh. (not the exact words, but a summary of it)
"The new languages keep coming and they all claim to be the best. I read about Java when it came out, but it was a pile of crap"

C++ was my first language as well and I still love it. But what I don't understand: why did he say that Java *was* a pile of crap? It still is
