About one week in my new entry level job and I feel completely clueless and useless. This is my first professional environment. Is this a normal feeling? What was your first programming job experience like?

If your fresh from school you are likely to feel overwhelmed, most new we get do.

Almost no education will really prepare you for the requirements at work, but hang in there, you will learn a lot during the first year and sooner or later there will be a mew hire to compare with and you'l wonder, was I as clueless when I started?

    ;D

I felt very similar starting in my role. Remember that you were hired for a reason and deserve your role. Focus on learning from and observing the other developers.

Just keep looking for things you can do, and build your usefulness up, one step at a time. Rinse and repeat for some years, never stop learning, and eventually you'll own the business! ;)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. This community is amazing. I guess I am feeling "imposter syndrome" and scared that I wasn't cut for the job.

My first and current job, was modifying an app, what my friend failed to tell me was it was both Android and iOS lol, so for the first week I was googling how to make iOS apps because I had no experience with app development, and a year later the modifications are complete, just take it one step at a time. With Android I did a small tutorial on setting up an app, and that's what got me started.

And make sure to do some planning and such before hand, I say this in case you are a solo dev like I was/am.
