Agreed, usually on smaller social media sites I feel more inclined to participate (post, comment, "upvote"), but on sites like Reddit, I'm just a lurker.

I guess I just like smaller communities...? IMO: Less groupthink, more creative ideas, and users are less afraid to confine to the norms of the platform. [Example: tumblr. The popular posts have had the same sense of humor/writing style for years now.]
