@Artemix I didn't try, but probably yes, like everything built with electron... Electron is the new flash

I hate to say this but electron is absoulute bullshit! I fucking hate javascript and electron!

Why on earth would you use electron to build windows apps when there is WPF.

Fucking hipsters nowadays soon there will be javascript kernels....

@Artemix not as heavy this time

Man I hate this new electron thing *opens Spotify and Slack desktop app*

    - Everybody on devrant

@cgrey unfortunately I must use slack because of company choice...but I don't use Spotify :)

Where the fuck is the dark mode?
  • 1
@cgrey spotify is not an electron app.
  • 0
@Artemix true. I hate the software that does what it pleases without asking me for anything.
  • 1
@orkhanfarmanli You're right, Spotify uses Chromium Embedded Framework from what I remember.
  • 1
@smithalan2 should be more or less the same
  • 7
@iNCEPTiON because WPF doesn't let you write apps that work on Linux or Mac
  • 1
thx @tbodt finally someone who does not bring up a unsupported and unqulified statement.

@Artemix all the "cross platform" ui libraries I've ever seen look like shit on some platform or other because they're trying to emulate the native platform's look and feel. electron just gives up on that and you get something that looks a whole lot better
  • 2
@Artemix technically you can style things however you want with any gui framework, but electron is the only one that forces you to do it
  • 5
@cgrey Everyone here "fuck Electron"..."Oh but I love VS Code"

Electron is neat because you can *quickly* create a cross platform application, and it can share a lot of code with your web service. As a company, that means you can save on expensive development teams.

Because it quickly gained popularity and there's a low threshold to learn it, there's a lot of shitty apps made with it. But the same goes for native windows store apps...

    So... GitKraken but less features?
  • 2
@nicholai kinda... Just perfect for "hosting" projects for free like me in github.
  • 0
@CozyPlanes so.. like GitKraken? :3 (which is free, and uses github, that is also free)
  • 2
@nicholai And both are like command line git with less features 😂

If you take one afternoon reading up on the commands and options, it will save you so much headache.

@bittersweet oh I mostly use GitKraken for it's history/timeline visuals and for quickly patching merge conflicts. I am pretty dedicated to using commitizen (a cli extension of git) and conventional changelogs, for that sweet angular style commit messages

@smithalan2 I use it in ubuntu and it is far better than any electron app in performance.

I love do everything from VS GUI, without leave my preferred IDE
  • 4
Unpopulair opinion: I like Electron. Simple as that.
  • 2
@linuxxx i like it too! Except the ram/memory hog
  • 1
@CozyPlanes I don't mind that much tbh, 100mb for an application I use a lot is reasonable enough for me :)
  • 1
@iNCEPTiON because .NET apps are always so lightweight and great right xD?
  • 1
@PRO-grammer agree, also don't forget how bad and bloatwated you can develop a software, probably he was referring to some bad .NET software example ... anyway I love .NET, C# and vs :
