When you're a CS student and you're stuck doing an internship where you're not doing any programming 😲

I had that. Ask them if you can help with debugging or small tasks and show what you you can do. The worst thing they can say is say no, otherwise do what I did and spend the summer working on your own stuff l

@askerr Yeah that's what I'm going to do soon because I'm going crazy editing PowerPoint slides or testing hardware to reproduce problems... I'm in my last year of my bach and deserve more than doing their dirty jobs 😡.

It's not just you. I'm a CS major as well with many mobile apps & websites under my belt, yet I'm stuck doing mostly inventory of the data center where I work.

If you're not doing CA at work, find a new job where they are actually in need of a developer. In my experience, developer jobs are plenty.

@anton-christens Can't just quit an internship. Also I love the company and what it does, I just want to be playing a more integral role.

Meh, I say don't sweat it and make the most of it.

In college, I held a part-time, on-campus job in the telecom dept. Basically I ran all over campus physically wiring up desk phones for cranky people.

It was clearly tangential to my degree, but I enjoyed it and learned a lot -- much of which had more to do with customer service / human interaction than it did tech skills.
