How many android devices are there?
  • 1
@inukinator Far to many. I own one myself. Wouldn't even touch an iPhone under gunpoint.
Just wishes that Java would go away so we can have good stuff again.

@krister-alm you /can/ use c++ but everything is basically java
  • 1
@inukinator From my limited knowledge you have c at the bottom and then a java layer.
Can't understand why you would need java to kickstart a c++ program.

@krister-alm but the jvm on android is quite solid by now, I still do C++ because performance is key in my text editor

@krister-alm What exactly is the problem with Java?
  • 1
@Makenshi There aresomany things I have problem with.
    Here are a few:
    1. Fosters sloppy programmers that can't deal with memory.
    2. It's a memory hog.
    3. It opens up your os for security threats.
    4. If the language is safe and supposed to be better than i.e. c++. Then why do we see all those memory exception?

But these are my concern. Many doesn't share my view. Many don't even cares.

    Hope I haven't offended anyone.

@Makenshi nothing really. Other than that it's "slow". Give me a bare metal language as full featured and mature as Java and I will switch.

    @deusprogrammer there's java->native compilers though?

And for each of those devices, there are billions of tiny transistors who will only ever experience fucking bytecode.
