In my lieu of female interns and employees they target more on getting proof of their knowledge (certificate or some kind of letter) while males generally don't care about certificates and stuff, they just wanna learn. Has anyone ever seen things like this?

That'll be because women understand that having the paperwork is really helpful in getting future work. Especially in a male-dominated industry.

I am coming out here. I am a female developer with over 10 years experience. I have a certification and almost a masters. I think women want to compete and be the best in general. It's a rough field to be in when you don't fit in the club of the male dominated culture. Being the best is the way to get people to see women can do it too. Just my 2 cents...
