Well here is my new setup.
Left and center screens are connected to one laptop. Where I run my editors and terminals.
Rightmost is connected to another old laptop. This is for browsing and slack.
Using synergy to share mouse and keyboard.
What do you think of this setup? Any better way to do this?

Hmmm. if possible, connect the third monitor to the main laptop via a dicking station, and use an RDP solution luke teamviewer to control the old laptop.

I would like to tilt the monitor in between for coding.

@magicMirror ...Dicking station... Oh the image that comes to mind, like a glory hole in a phone booth 😂

Try vertical monitors some time. They are great for code and long pages. Also, if all your monitors or some are vertical, you don't have to look sideways so much

lookin classy. rise up the monitors so the vertical center is eyelevel

Are you using synergy through SSL? It does everything through plain text by default so if there are a lot of people in your network or it gets hacked you might reveal sensitive info etc! Just a tip :)

How did you connect two screens to your laptop? I'm thinking about a similar setup

All you need is a massive TV above everything. If only monitors were cheaper...

@underflow hdmi and VGA. You can also checkout usb to hdmi or VGA. Convertors. But they work only for Windows. Using Linux here tho.

@Trablarer I have one VGA and one hdmi. No other means to connect. Docking station is quite costly here in India. Also I was hitting 80% Ram with editors, node test servers, slack and browser. Had a spare one hence decided to go by this.

@linuxxx thanks for the tip. Didn't knew this!

@magicMirror docking station turns out was too costly in India online. Should checkout offline prices. Thanks for the idea ;)

@rohitshetty For you it might not matter that much (although still bad not to use SSL) but for me, living in a huge student complex... yeah you get the picture :P

@linuxxx hahahahaha poor you. I empathize

You can use input director to control all machines from one keyboard/mouse. Looks sweet!

@rohitshetty sweet. I'm guessing this depends on the hardware of the laptop, but in your case the two screens aren't just mirrored right?
  • 1
@underflow yes. They are not mirrored.
