I don't understand this. How is that Facebook is one of the biggest company in the world and have the worst fucking mobile apps ever created. I just use messenger to talk with my mom and it's utter rubbish.

When a call arrives, there's no way to silence that call apart from setting the phone to mute. All the other apps shut up when you either click power button or volume button. But this fucking messenger piece of Satan's anus won't respond to any fucking button when I have a call.

Not only that, once you have received the call, there's no way you can rotate the app without ending the call, turning on auto rotate and call again. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? how the fuck is it that you're so fucking big but you don't have this simple features in your fucking app?

And yeah, most of the time, when I receive a call in mobile, it doesn't appear on the desktop website. If it does and I receive the call from there, the mobile app still keeps shouting. AND GUESS WHAT, at that point, if I reject the call from the mobile, it will end the call that I accepted from the desktop. HAHA, WHAT A FUCKING SURPRISE.

Facebook, please stop being a piece of shite. Put your goddamn money to good use. If you can't make a good app, maybe outsource it to other companies. They will do a better job than you.

    Messenger just exists to harvest the address book of users so that Facebook can devour all.

    Then use WhatsApp instead.... O wait......

    I convinced my whole family to switch to signal. Problem solved!
  • 1
    @areontar How did you convince them to switch ?
  • 2
    @areontar I wish I could too :( 😭

    Facebook's UX sucks on all platforms, especially on desktop and Android
  • 1
    @robbt I installed it on their phones and told therm the quality was better

    Another shitty thing about the FB app on Android: after going through multiple pages to change a setting, tapping the back button sends you back through the entire page history instead of going back to the main menu or submenu category. That's just lazy programming.

    dont forget about the file size of the goddamn app.

    Have you ever used Snapchat? Messenger is heaven compared to the hell known as Snapchat. It's like they switched dev teams 5 times and the new ones say "lol WTF is this code" write something shit, leave, repeat.

    And btw. My mom ONLY uses Snapchat to communicate. She has 2x My points and I'm a kid in high school :(

    @Aiei i don’t get how this worthless piece of shite is 250+mb

    Well... I hate Messenger too. "Mom! Dad! Do you know Discord? Look. I'll show you..."
  • 2
    @areontar Did the same including with my friends! (and some devranters *cough* @matsaki95 @jpichardo *cough*). They actually love it because of its privacy features and because it just works :).

    Does anyone use Viber?

    @NoScreamPanic Used it, but I don't like it. I found Discord and now that's my favorite.
  • 1
    @Gradle True, discord is awesome. Just can't convince everyone to use it...
  • 0
    @KyrePh I think that's intended behaviour
  • 2
    @NoScreamPanic @Gradle I love discord as for features/interface but as long as it stays closed source (it is I thought?), doesn't provide end to end crypto and saves shitloads of metadata, I'll sadly not use it :/. (in my defense, loads of users have already requested the end to end crypto as option but they keep ignoring those requests so it's not just me)

    @robbt well to start they where not on whatsapp, so no "conversion" needed. Second some had iPhone and some Android, so cross platform was a plus. And for those who where on Android, you can set it as the default text manager. So it's transparent.

    Next is, I travel a lot for work, so the "no international txt" help. And wrapped it up with a simple explanation of encryption using metaphors, explained privacy issue with the commercial angles (not government) and it does video and phone as well. And voilà!

    @tahnik try this approach and with time, it will work for sure

    @linuxxx yeah same here for my friends, it's so efficient and simple the sell was easy for them haha.

    @areontar I just explained the privacy part but too badly WhatsApp is nearly a life requirement where I live :/
