What the fuck is clients' problem? This woman comes to me after one of the last bids I saved and spent on her stupid task! She asked me to come on skype and I said I didn't have the ID and maybe we can go ahead with a phone call or whatsapp call or even Google hangout! She stopped responding to my messages when I had sent her 3 options! It's not like I was willing to back out but hey, I DON'T FUCKING USE SKYPE ANYMORE! What a waste of my precious last but one bid!

You're being an ass. Skype is a commonly used communication tool. It's not unreasonable to have an account. Hell, create a throwaway account.

But no, it's easier for you to come on here and rant about someone asking you to use Skype. Your loss, it seems.

@CrankyOldDev Skype is an utter piece of shit. It seems the only reason business people use it is because it's integrated with Microsoft business software.
I'm forced to use it at work and it keeps dropping messages not showing incoming messages in order.

Easily the worst chat app of the big ones like WhatsApp, Hangouts or such

@Froot I wouldn't disagree with you. Skype is OK but ropey at times. Skype for Business is the worst piece of software I've used for years.

But refusing to use it for a client or potential client and then bitching about it is petty.

@CrankyOldDev Ye I agree with you there. It was his choice

    @indawell

Her problem is you wouldn't use Skype.

If you want the client you communicate on their terms otherwise you lose the client. It's not rocket science.

Skype is more than fruity, its a piece of utter shire. That said, its easy to get around how invasive it is by purchasing a cheap android tablet and using it as your communications tool.

Skype is fucking horrid, but its an industry standard and to outright dismiss a client request to use it is just inviting negative responses.

@Froot That is Skype for business. Does suck donkey balls. Regular Skype is a completely different product

@ReverendLovejoy I use regular Skype at work and it's shite 😄 Don't know about Skype for business but I'd expect that too to be shite

Fuck skype and fuck everyone who insists it's not cancer.

But bite the bullet [block all skype ad server's IP's with your host file and then] take your easy money while you find a client that doesn't make you hate humanity.

@Froot Glad someone thinks the same! I tried to create it several times and sadly, it does seem unhelpful to me! I'd be wasting my time instead of just taking the conversation elsewhere, right? I find Hangouts pretty easier to use.

@CrankyOldDev I know! With this incomplete rant, that would make me sound like an ass but I was having trouble creating one. So, to save mutual time, I asked her if she would like to try elsewhere. When I tried to create one, it said that the Microsoft account was having issues. I didn't want to waste my time when I clearly had a better option! I even tried using Skype for Business and still figuring out why it is asking my organization's name when I don't have one! It's a clear no for Skype from me. Highly confusing as of now. Maybe I will figure it out one day!

@brettmoan Totally agree. Client has an upper hand always. I figured it a bit late. I'm pretty new to this freelancing thing. That's exactly why I am here

@redstonetehnik Thanks! haha seems like a rough start for me

@indawell That's a very different report than your opening statement. Just seemed like you were giving out without trying to be accommodating. But I guess I'll reach the wrong conclusion with only half the info.
