Let's hear your embarrassing confessions.

I'll start: I have never built my own PC's or set up my home network.

I don't really know much about hardware and physical networking, and frankly I can't be bothered to deal with it.

    I've been learning/programming C++ for 5 years now and I still can't use cmake properly

    I never used git and don't know how to use it.

    I didn't make a git repo for one of my most complicated projects. I mean I would but my PC is dead so I can't (yet)

    @CodeKek It hasn't been many days since I learnt how to use it. Before it was all happening with Visual Studio magic 😛

    I haven't done much coding, honestly. Just the basic academic stuff and a few things here and there. I know the basics of about 5 language but suck at all of them. I'm considered better than my classmates but I don't think I know much. I am struggling to graduate in a degree which I wasn't good at since secondary school. I know that even if I do successfully graduate, I wouldn't do that. I would wanna code. I have to graduate because parents expectations. And I can't afford or confidently tell them I wanna drop out. I suck at coding right now. I don't know if I can make it out there. There is so many fields to choose from, I don't know what to do. I wonder how 7 billion people survive. What do they do to eat everyday? Will I be able to work like them and feed me and my family in the future? Am I strong enough? I get suicidal thoughts often times and get lonely.
    Sorry that I turned this into a rant rather than a confession. I'll delete it if you want me to. Sorry.

    @BlurryFace5178

    Just be a sysadmin. I am one for the past 3.5 years and it's pretty fun sometimes. Dev is more though

    @clovisIrex I am constantly bombarded with the uneasy feeling of whether I can do it. So insecure. Why am I like this? 😓

    @BlurryFace5178
    You're probably comparing yourself to others too much.

    If you enjoy programming, just do it. If you don't enjoy it, be something else.

    @BlurryFace5178 damn dude, find something you like a little at least so you can live out of it and tell your parents to fuck off with their expectations. At the end, if you see this through you will be stuck in jobs you will probably even hate more than school

    I didn't start my bitcoin farm out of being insecure if I could make it right. Now just 6 months ago my non tech brother started one - I thought it was already too late since the past couple of years - and he is already receiving some payments

    Linux is much better than I am.

    I've never successfully connected a repeater to a router using mac address filtering...

    @BlurryFace5178 same at my side. Did some Java, some c#, that few php and html I need to get rid of problems in wordpress. That's it. Never did something other than school things. Or the wordpress'y things on my own.

    But I work as a sysadmin in a company which put me into 1st level support...

    I single-handedly fucked up a few WordPress plugins on purpose so that I didn't have to use WordPress to make a website.

    @Windows Now this is something I can agree on!

    After years I still do nearly all (won't do it with the privacy site thingy dw) Model stuff (the db calls etc) in the view. All my models just return true 😅

    I don't do front end development because I always fuck up with the design of not feel comfortable with it.

    Also, after using git for a year now I still don't know how to work with branches so I commit/push everything to master 😅

    I'm not POTUS... We'll and how long until I get bored.

    Oh the ++ side it does motivate me more to read the rant feed... though not sure my comments in character would be relevant...

    Hm... Seems I've already made my covfefe moment

    I've used python for nearly 10 years, and I still don't know the difference between list.append and list.extend...

    I sign up for many coding dojos, katas and meetups and decide not to go at last time - in my defense they are after my work time so I don't want to know more about programming by that time -
