I'm beginning to think that it's not important to know how to code anymore, but how good you are at handling management.

    I spend so much time talking about development and managing development, I sometimes feel my job title should be Senior Software Consultant instead of Senior Software Developer.

    It's impossible to avoid politics. For the most part, it is harder for someone to schmooze their way through a dev career. Coding is like cooking, all the bullshit in the world can't cover up a poorly done job.
    But yeah, soft skills matter anywhere you go.
