If the time comes when the traditional signing in with email dies out, I don't know how long I'm gonna last to the Internet anymore. I never liked the idea of having my accounts associated with these giants especially with Facebook.

If you are not concerned with data collection, I think there are a couple of pros in signing up with one of those services. You don't have to generate and store a new password for every online service, which can be a pain, and if you are the kind of person who happen to reuse passwords, you avoid giving it to a website you do not trust.

But there's "or with email". You can simple register without Facebook or Google

It's like saying you don't care about freedom of speech because you have nothing to say.

@itsmill3rtime I'd be glad to pay my ISP, Google and Microsoft for not using my data, 10€/month each looks like a fair price to me, except for the ISP, I'm already paying them (and Windows, I paid that too)

For awhile I didn't care. I'd use Google for everything, maps, search, email. They offer some great services and their backend is pretty secure.

However, when you think about the amount information they can store on one person, it's scary to think about. They know where you work, where you live, they know your commute, they know what time you leave for work, they know you searched for new jobs in the area and so on.

Where do you draw the line?

@itsmill3rtime I seriously doubt it, sorry

I just know a little part of what they do with my data
    And I'm scared, a lot
That's why I want to protect myself and research on what they do
And if driving to a place I don't know takes one more minute because I didn't use ok Google to tell my phone the address... I don't care
