The iPhone X is in Germany so expensive that it would be cheaper to fly to the U.S. stay there for one or two days and buy it there.

    How the fuck do $1000 translate to €1150, Apple?? Why did you hire an intern to do your math?
  • 3
    In india it's larger than National per capita income. What a majority fresher engineer would earn in 4-5 months. What a good engineer from elite college would earn in a month

    @ocab19 Apple is selling the iPhone X for $1319 CAD. $999 USD is $1217 CAD with the current conversion. Not even remotely as bad as the Euro one, but still charging over $100 more because Apple.

    I guess they have to finance the EU fine someway...
  • 2
    Isn't there already tax included in the EU price, while it is pre tax in the us?

    No, they got fined around 2 billion € because of tax evasion practices through financial engineering techniques.

    Officially they are not californian but irish or something similar.

    @Jyloor you probably mean the doubble irish arrangement?

    Unless you get caught by customs bringing it back. You're probably meant to declare that.

    Or you can save a lot of money and buy a different phone...

    I love Germany, but socialism usually equals higher import taxes, and higher import taxes typically mean much higher prices on electronics. It's the same shit in Brazil, or any other South American country
  • 1
    @watzon news for you, there is no socialism in germany in since the wall came down 28 years ago. 😄
  • 3
    @heyheni that's true isn't it lol. But import taxes are still high are they not?
  • 0
    @heyheni that just so incorrect...
  • 0
    @luper what is so incorrect?
  • 0
    @heyheni socialism in Germany is definitely still a thing
  • 0
    Apple not good at math shit
  • 3
    @luper hold on a second, there is a big difference between "socialism" and a "social market economy".

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

    I know in english speaking countries the term "social" has a negatively konotion because of the cold war and the new world settlers policy "Those who not work do not eat". But in most european countries this bad konotion doesn't exist.

    @heyheni I never said it was a bad thing.

    @heyheni yo that's cool I didn't know the difference. I actually kinda like that, maybe I should move to Germany
