Sister comes into my room

"Can you look at moms laptop, it stopped working I'm scared I broke it"

Ask why

"Idk it just stopped working, all I did was install adobe flash player I dont think that could do it could it?"

Top kek

Take a look

"EFI IPV4 0 (error code) failed to boot"

Weird. Enter bios

"Hard drive: [Not detected]"

Well, that's no bueno

Pop open back, hard drive is loose

Pfft, push that fucker back in

Boot -> works

"Mom is going to kill me I broke it im so worried" -> relieved laughter

    @projektaquarius Aftermarket SSD installed in place of old HDD, I guess it being thinner and lighter meant after getting moved around a lot it came loose...? Very strange.

    @Crazed like did she install flash player while doing jumping jacks and/or spinning around rapidly?

    @projektaquarius she knows little more than netflix and Facebook. She was good enough to turn it off and back on before bringing it to me, but that's the extent of her analysis.

    I would imagine that it was "getting there" and a sudden shift, like getting up while holding it, caused it to barely disconnect from the power port.

    @Crazed got it. It just think it's weird. I thought (probably incorrectly) that they tried to keep SSDs the same size as, at least, laptop hdds.

    @projektaquarius I imagine they are pretty close, but the case may be a mm or two off. Also, its a low end lenovo laptop, I think the old hdd probsbly had a screw holding it steady too that the ssd doesnt have, probably didnt expect anyone to swap lol

    Why would you need flash now days?

    @mundo03 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Most people start physically hitting hardware if it isn't working well enough...

    @enen no worries, there's a direct sata and power port connection, no cables involved

    @mundo03 a lot of online games still use flash, could that be it?

    @bittersweet I have an extremely hard time not beating the fucking shit out of people whenever they physically abuse their hardware. Man such ignorance.
