Google keeps reaffirming what I keep telling everyone... it's not 1995 any more. They just ripped Symantic over using 7-year old (un-updated) open-source components in Norton. These are massive zero-day exploits that are wide the hell open. If you're really concerned, use MSE on Windows. If you're on a Mac, grow a brain cell and actually look at what you grant permissions to, and you won't even need AV.

    No used a 3rd party AV since Windows Vista.
    MSE, UAC and a little common sense is more than enough if you're not going to the whore houses of the Internet.

    I had malware once, nasty piece of shit that installed a driver to make itself uninstallable, it thought.
    A Linux boot and register editor later and it was gone.
    Because Linux doesn't give two shits about windows permissions
