Hello everyone,
My name is Andi and I would appreciate some advices how I can get started in the IT sector.
Im very interested in the development of software.
I was always interested in software and all around computers.
Right know I'm working in a boring steel trade company and I want finally start to develop some skills for my (hopefully) future job.
Do I need to study to get a good job as developer or do I have to learn to code all by my self ?
(Sorry for my bad English)

    You should do okay by learning it by yourself. You will miss out on some things that way, but also you won't be wasting time on unnecessary stuff. All that i can advise you is that you don't lose your faith and will if you get stuck with something. The beauty of this field is in it's variety. You can end up working backend or front end with language you like, working on modeling or maintaining some database, doing mobile or web apps or web design. It's basically a huge candy store filled with sweet and sour products. Don't stop at just one flavor and find the ones you like :) also, do a bit of research on the languages and consider the offer made by @Lahsen2016 :)

    @Lahsen2016
    Thanks for your offer!
    I would love to have a mentor that can teach me all that stuff that i need.

    The problem is that with a degree in computer science (i live in germany and in germany degrees are the most important thing) i will earn much more.
    But thinking only about money wont get me anywhere..... i guess.

    @Scipione I was in similar situation as you. I've earned 3 year bachelor diploma in electronics and started working. Only then I've realized that I wanted to work in the IT sector. I've done exam differences and got straight into the 4th year in CS college (they acknowledged my previous 3 years of studies). It's freaking hard, missed most of my classes and had to catch up with everyone else. Now I'm finishing master studies (it's taking me 2 years instead of 1). All that while still working on my daily job. I I've learned a lot of useful stuff, but not a day goes by without me thinking did I make a mistake by not just learning all of this by myself and focusing on more important things. Will I regret doing this? Hell no. But I sure do regret not having few years of solid experience in c/c++/java because of this... It can't be a win-win situation but whatever you choose focus on the good parts and don't look back :) This long-ass comment probably won't help you but there it is anyway..

    I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one.
    Respect that you managed to get all that stuff together
    I hope I have the same endurance that you have.

    Web developping semms popular today, but is a bit limited. An alternative would be Nueral Networks an AI. If you are into desktop apps, you probably have to search longer. There are also Data Analysis jobs if you are interested in statistics. You can also have a look into indie game developpment, if you like to make games.
