How do you know, without a doubt, that you really need to take the time to sort through your storage devices?

...ok, I got the message, loud and clear.

I just was trying to grab/mod my rolling batch for killing unnecessary OS crap during OS init... so it doesn't get a chance to mature into adulthood OS crap like onedrive and basically anything made for safeguarding users from themselves. I made the search too broad via typo and apparently I still have some magento2 config crap relevant only to Win7...from over 6 yrs ago on a mass SD card ive used for quick, likely redundant, backups when reformatting things.

    Yea... no valid excuse here.

The moment the file manager appends a numeric suffix by default to the new file/directory I'm creating [e.G. New Folder (2)]

@netikras if unintended/unexpected then totally agree... i have some unique organisation patterns that, while i totally understand them, i really need to change since i have others working with me now... like keeping a folder "iters" and dumping scripts in there when im reformatting them... the auto appended number is key to that organised chaos.

I have incrementally bought larger external storage to avoid having to sort my storage. Currently up to an 8TB external hard drive.

@atheist back when an 80GB external was slight more expensive/viewed as excessive than your 8TB... mid (20)'00s , i upgraded from my giant(for then) unbranded 8gb flash drive/radio/mp3(formats++)player/txt file&folder scheme display, fancy multi-colour backlight dev to 80gb ipod with a bunch of features i didnt give a shit about... just to use as a convenient external (*nostalgia, back when partitioning a dev, regardless of OEM's intended usage, was basic*).

I fixed computers then so it made sense to just backup in bulk, reformat, reinstall OS then restore their piles.

I ofc ended up using it for additional storage as time passed... i really need to retrieve and go through that ipod...

Ooo... who remembers Napster??? Or knows wtf a Zune is/was?
