I wrote an extension for chrome. In the last part (publishing) I got the message I had to pay 5$ for 'administration / registration' fee's... I do not own a creditcard lol :(

Anyway a friend hooked me up and payed.

It is really sad that we have to pay, it would be more logical to receive 5$ for making something in the store -,-

    Well I assume partially it has to do to prevent lots of spam extensions, also bandwidth is not free if the extension itself is free and not giving Google its share of the cake

    These fees are usually down to abuse of the stores. If you have something to share and you're not a spammy fucker, and the fees are too damn high... Contact them! They're usually bro's about that kind of thing and will hook you up...

    They're not trying to discourage development on their platforms.

    When i was a kid i couldnt put anything up in most development platforms because i didnt own a credit card and 99% of sites would reject my parents cards because they were from South Africa

    @legionfrontier

    Yea well im already a google developer, which also has its fee. Now I had to buy this too for Google chrome developer :(

    Honestly the 5$ is a bit lame but the lack of payment methods is just retarded.
