did anyone else get into programming because unlike a person when you get into an argument about who is right you can objectively prove it and prove it again and prove it sideways and up and the answer is gonna be always the same or your fault for testing it that way

and if not, why else

I got into programming because programming and electronics are the closest I am gonna get to being able to perform magic without selling my soul to a cunt who is second rate at fiddling.

I'm really good at spending untold hours on a project and there's no other limit to what a single programmer can build with consumer tools.

When I first started, it felt like I was only limited with how far I was willing to think about something, rather than what tools or materials I had to hand (so didn't have to stop because I ran out of wood or some chemical for example).

It also brought a simple-yet-beautiful-when-done-right structuring support to my chaotic mind (the structuring is beautiful, not my brain 🧠) that made it less painful to function

It was also fun to solve problems and to think about the different ways I could help people with just thinking stuff through hard enough

And like OP said, it simplifies an otherwise difficult and painful world. That alone had enticed hurting little me to the land of code and make believe
