I've noticed that, wherever I am, people tend to come to me for help and guidance. It happened at my previous job and is now happening at my current job too.

These past few months I've spent most of my day helping my coworkers instead of actually writing code. I'm not complaining, I like helping, but I feel like I'm not being productive.

Is there a name for this role? Should I embrace it?

In my opinion that's called seniority combined with nice character.
If you like yourself in that position, then embrace it.

I agree with @plusgut but if you think this is the sole reason for you not being able to live up to your expectations of productivity then I think you need to draw a line. Help others but excuse yourself if and when you have something important/productive to work on. Or maybe ask others to help you with things they are good at in exchange for things you help them with.

@SheShell oh, I ask them for plenty of help too, with things like CSS.

I also know to prioritize, so if what I'm doing is more important I tell them to wait.

It's just that lately it's been more of me helping than writing code and it got me thinking about my role here.
