Okay so uh, do you know about LFSRs (Linear Feedback Shift Registers)?

    We just had a lecture about communication networks, during which we learned about cyclic redundancy checks. They can use a Galois-type shift register for the computation, so we learned a little bit about that one, too.
    I just skipped the Wikipedia article about LFSR, and it doesn't seem to be much harder than our stuff ...
