If you like apple then yes.

I had the same question half a year ago an decided against the MB Air. The screen has low resolution (no space for big IDE) and the CPU is slow (compile duration). I bought a 13“ MB Pro with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD without Touchbar instead.

@lastNick apple laptops always have a really high resolution compared to other laptops (last time I checked at least)

@lastNick If by "low resolution" you mean "small display size", then yes, I think we agree there. Wouldn't be able to do much on 13 inches.

In general, I have to say there are better options than Macs in general for laptops. They no longer feel innovative; they are way overpriced, especially if you consider the shitty hardware engineering that goes on (reference youtube: Louis Rossman); repairs are way more expensive. The only thing you'd be paying for is quality (albeit proprietary) software/UI, while Linux is getting better at providing similar quality.

Check linustechtips, he has a video on best laptop for buck for students. He also talked about the macbooks

@tokumei I literally mean low resolution. The 13” MB Air has 1440 x 900 pixel while the 13” MB Pro has 2560 x 1600 pixel.

@Codex404 No they don’t! Please see my post below.

Something high line dell, at least the xps series will run Linux wonderfully and out preform Mac hardware at about the same cost. Now if you need to ship iOS apps then that changes things .

@lastNick i was going for 13” pro but i dont think the price is worth it for my usage, I can buy a mb air in a lesser price and it will work smoothly.

@GurvirBhogal How much is the difference between the Air and the Pro?

I replaced a 15” late 2008 and 13” mid 2009 MacBook half a year ago. That’s nearly 9 years of use for each. They are still worth around 200€ each.

@lastNick the difference here in India is around 30k (INR) or around 440$
