    Not right now but I'll try to join this week
  • 7
    @ohemelaar

    :D

    The server will be up for anyone to join :)
  • 3
    @Linux By the way what timezone are you on? Saying this because here it's nearly 11PM, which is why I can't reasonably join ^^
  • 7
    @ohemelaar
    Located in Sweden :)
    So the same timezone,
  • 1
    Nice, which version? Java or uwp? Newest release? Modded?
  • 3
    @kenogo
    Linux and Pizza is two things I Love
  • 3
    I made the island a little nicer.
  • 3
    Nicer means trees and flowers and plants.
    And a flower pot.
  • 2
    Make a discord as well :)
  • 1
    Any mods?
  • 3
  • 6
    I added a nice fence, tree hedge, path, and dock so the island is safe.

    Food is up to you, though!
  • 6
    I don't even have it on my PC. Installing it for this...
  • 2
    @Root For some people, "nicer" could mean an underground stock of TNT with a random trigger somewhere :D

    Thanks for the server, Linux. I'll try to come and say "Hi"!
  • 4
    @Jilano How would that be nice? ☹
  • 1
    I'll join as soon as I can leave the hospital (which is hopefully today) 👍🏻
  • 5
    @Root
    😘😘😘😘
  • 2
    @Root Michael Bay's fans are everywhere, unfortunately!

    Anyway, have you created a nice "welcome" area with flowers and shiny things everywhere? (That would be great!)
  • 3
    @Jilano I started on it, though it's on the next island over.

    Not going to help those who are afraid of a little swimming. 😋
  • 2
    @Jilano

    Not yet, I have to survive first :)
  • 4
    I logged and man, you made it really cozy
  • 1
    . Might hop in for a bit
  • 2
  • 2
    Was surprised to see people actually playing, :D
  • 1
    Gonna repair my bike and join as well
  • 1
    Correction: Im not gonna be able to fix my bike and break our reserve bike as well...
  • 3
    I joined yesterday with my SO to your server and I must say, I really missed Minecraft. And playing it now with a bunch of devs are just super awesome.

    I never had the chance to really experience vanilla Minecraft multiplayer. We'll definitely be coming back :D
  • 3
    @Suppoze
    Yeah, I felt the same too!
  • 1
    @irene I nearly died several times in those caves though. There are a lot of dark places from where monster spawn and it can get really crowded in seconds
  • 2
    @ohemelaar @irene

    I will check that out tonight!

    Thanks for the tip!
  • 1
    @irene Yes ^^ And also @AlgoRythm 's, a creeper nearly blew him in his back
  • 0
    Is there by any chance a TeamSpeak or Discord server already setup? @Linux
  • 1
    I found a burried treasure map. Have been digging around that location for an hour, died twice because its underwater. Does one of you already find it and didnt leave a sign?
  • 0
    @irene a map for a burried treasure:)
  • 2
    @ThermalCube
    I can maybe set up a ts server :)
  • 2
    @Codex404
    I can help
  • 1
    @Linux I found a map pointing to the spawn island and the x was a bit in the sea on the side my island. You might see some light from the bottom of the sea there.
  • 1
    @irene no, my own torch, I had to dig under the sea to find it.
  • 1
    Its about 5 to ten blocks from the coast
  • 1
    @irene spawn island the coast line on the side of my island
  • 1
    If someone finds the heart of the sea in that chest you can have everything but I would love to keep that xD
  • 1
    @kenogo are you also playing?
  • 1
    @kenogo just time the play button using voice. Thats what we always do at least xD
  • 2
    @kenogo
    Oh, I think they adressed that in last Linux Unplugged podcast
  • 1
    Where is everybody? :o
  • 2
    @ohemelaar having dinner, will be there after
  • 2
    @irene

    I am a dwarf and Im digging a hole
    diggy diggy hole
    digging a hole

    IF THE FUCKING PERSON WHO GRIEFED THE PUBLIC TURTLE FARM WITHIN A DAY OF BUILDING IT WOULD BE SO FUCKING KIND TO FIX IT AGAIN....

    thank you
  • 0
    I have fixed it partially again, you just need to restart he minecart and replace all the fucking blocks you removed...

    Goddamit, I really thought people would be FUCKING mature...
  • 2
    @Codex404
    So we got griefers... Nice
  • 1
    Nice, downloading it again just for this.
    Is it 1.13?
  • 1
    @irene next to spawn...
  • 1
    Well, that sure is a big ocean
  • 1
    I just found some snowy hills, I just digged in there and set up my base.
  • 2
    @Codex404 No need to get upset man ^^ I accidentally dug through the sand layer that's on top of the rails, and by doing so I blocked the cart which stopped it. Then I went to the switches to try to start it again but there were creepers in there, so I had to dig around to make sure they wouldn't explode everything. I tried to repair everything but my break was over and I had to get back to work :/ I couldn't find a way to start the cart before disconnecting
  • 1
    @ohemelaar and the cart was gone? Glass was broken, baby turtles left the room? Basically the whole system was griefed. No traces from creeper explosions though
  • 1
    @Codex404 Hmmm, that's not how I left it indeed 🤔 Glass was intact, only some sand was missing around the farm to let me access to the mechanics under it

    @kenogo not OP but I've hosted an MC server on a 1-core VPS with 1GB of ram and Ubuntu Server running on it. Maybe try launching the server with more memory dedicated? I was running mine with at least 512MB iirc, maybe more
  • 0
    @kenogo I meant in the MC launch script, the default comes with a pretty low value by default I think (though I do suspect it may have been your cpu in your case)
  • 0
    @Linux you're not running the server in offline mode by any chance, are you? :/
  • 2
    @kenogo
    I have a xeon cpu, with 6 cores assigned and 12 GB RAM assigned
  • 2
    @endor
    What do you mean?
  • 2
    @irene
    Oh I understand.
    The problem would be that we would get some griefers then from My hosted experience :/
    But it depends on what the other players think about it.
  • 4
    @Linux I say no, MC is only 23 euros
  • 1
    @Codex404 "only" - look at this guy, with all his disposable income :P

    @Linux maybe you could try whitelisting IPs? You could allow users to do a remote port forward through ssh on a specified port, so you'd only need to let the mc server listen on localhost, or you could even create a VPN (though handing out certs would be a pain in the ass).

    You'd still have fine-grained control over users, since you could add and remove their ssh keys any time, and logs for all accesses.

    But if it's too much of a hassle I understand, I'll just stick to my personal server 🤷‍♂️
  • 5
    @endor

    That is to much hassle if other people here want to join :/
    I am sorry :/
  • 1
    @Linux Also its a very bad idea, because you can join with an admins name and you'd get their admin perms and items.
    There are plug-ins to circumvent that, but they're not good.
  • 1
    @Linux I have been running a Mc server for a long time here in Sweden, with focus with survival, where anyone can join and instantly build stuff.

    It's pretty complex to handle griefing, and white lists does not really work.

    A combination of recovery tools and allow players to manage their own 'zones'.
  • 1
    @ralnivar

    Yeah but you are running spigot or Bukkit. I am on pure vanilla
  • 0
    @Linux yes, but why?
  • 1
    @ralnivar
    Well, aquatic uppdate?
  • 1
    @Linux ah, didn't think about running the latest Mc.
  • 1
    @ralnivar
    It is Kinda sad that Bukkit/spigot is lagging behind
  • 0
    Just joined. Stoked, it’s been years since I’ve played mine craft.

    What sort of time do people usually play?
  • 0
    @Brolls ill join you now if you are still there.
  • 0
    @Codex404 I’ll jump on. 👍
  • 0
    @Brolls ill be there too
  • 4
    UPDATE;

    Just moved the Minecraft Server to another newer and stronger box. Please let me know how it goes. The IPS/IDS was a pain to configure :P
  • 0
    @Linux it won't load. Keeps timing out on "loading terrain" 65ms ping on my end, but that should be fine.
  • 2
    @Brolls

    Thanks for info, it is most likely not your fault :)
    I Will check
  • 0
    @Linux my guess would be that the server itself is fine, as is the server app, it’s probably the world data or something.
  • 1
    @Brolls
    Na I think it is the IPS
  • 2
    @Brolls
    I am able to connect, hmm, must be IPS
  • 0
    I can connect though. It shows as available and it goes through the encryption flow, but then hangs and times out on “loading terrain”.
  • 0
    @Linux https://spigotmc.org/threads/...

    Apparently the scoreboard.dat file can be the issue, it gets too big, and on slower connections / all the time it can time out the login.
  • 1
    @Brolls
    No it is a firewall issue on my side, I wrote the rules from scratch and problably missed something
  • 0
    @Linux firewall fixed? I tried to connect but also crashed
  • 1
    @ThermalCube
    Not yet, I have an idea what the problem is
  • 0
    @Brolls Often the same issue for me. It has to do with my connection to the server; it is hosted very far from me and most of the time it takes quite a few attempts to get connected, if it works at all
  • 0
    @Linux Do you have the server in online-mode? if so, can the server contact the login servers?
  • 1
    @AlgoRythm
    Na this is firewall at my location, I will deploye a fix soon
  • 0
    @ralnivar
    It can Contact the servers yes
  • 3
    @ralnivar @AlgoRythm

    The issue is now fixed, it seems like MC has added stuff so I had to define a new traffic category.
  • 2
    I'm going to play again this afternoon 👍🏻
    I hope my stuff is still there
  • 1
  • 2
    I'll be there too.
  • 1
    What time will people be there this evening? I’ll be around from about 11 PM GMT
  • 2
    @Brolls

    Between 20-23 GMT+1 is when I can logon
  • 1
    Wait what? 😲
  • 1
    @ThermalCube

    Yeah I was Lost so I took some bread, 5-6. I paid you in iron
  • 1
    @ThermalCube
    Lol I missed a word
  • 1
    @Linux yeah I was confused as to what you needed 😂
  • 1
    @ThermalCube

    Understandable!

    I'll join after the kiddos has gone to sleep
  • 1
    Maybe you could also instead create a modded server? I could create a nice TechnicLauncher mod pack, I have experience with those.
    Vanilla is nice, but does get boring after a while. :/
  • 1
    @kenogo
    Yes, that is what I will do!
  • 0
    @PrivateGER
    Never played, and I can deploy it quite easily.
    I dont know how the launcher will work under Linux thou
  • 1
    Chests look like Christmas presents today ^^
  • 0
    @PrivateGER I’d be so up for that. Vanilla can get a bit dull after a while.

    As long as it has pipes, machines and programming stuff (turtles etc) I am so down.
  • 1
    @Linux I use it on Linux, it works with absolutely no problems.
