Anyone here who knows ooRexx?
I'm currently attending a course at university where we learn this scripting language and am curious if someone want's to talk a bit about this crappy "human centric" language!!

I do not know ooREX but their website looks like it's from 2004.
    http://www.oorexx.org/

And if you scroll down you see it is from 2004. And the biggest joke is they ask you since 15 years if their "new" website is cool. Nope this design wasn't even good in 2004. So I feel sorry for you that you have to learn this obscure neglected project.
For what do you have to use it?

With REXX and JCL you can do anything... as long as you are on an IBM mainframe. Add some COBOL and Fortran for good measure.

@heyheni yah this language is around 40 years old or so and our prof is a sort of maintainer of a bridge between java and oorexx so you can invoke java classes directly from your rexx code.
we just learn the theory of this language and have to code some nutshell programs for him.
    very frustrating..

@websi but you do know that if you do mainframe stuff with COBOL you can expect to earn big money. Banks are desperate to find replacement for their retiring mainframe engineers.
