Man I fucking love debugging Windows applications... OpenVPN dun shit the bed because the management interface is locked (on the Windows client I presume?) - so poke that error message into the Gargler along with "openvpn windows"... First result, OpenVPN forums. Excellent. ... Some dickhead in the forums: "this is the wrong forum, this is for Access-Server users, and you the user MUST have terminated the process".

Come fucking on! If only I could replace this fucking device with a proper OS already (and no I can't). Windows itself being a clusterfuck is one thing but the goddamn support around it. Atrocious!

Ovpn for Windows has a lot client specific flags - you might be missing them in the client config

@magicMirror True that.. especially that whole /30 bullshit they have there for Win32 and such. Eventually I went to a proper subnet topology of course (why they didn't make this default - despite that being the current recommended topology as per their own wiki! - is beyond me.. backwards compatibility apparently). That particular profile with issues does work without a problem when I reboot the machine though... Really weird.

@Condor I use ovpn a lot - but not on windows, so can't help much. Try to persist the tun/tap interface, and raise the client verb parameter to 4. maybe you can get clues that way.

@Floydian Not very active on devRant anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ these days I'm much more often on Telegram. The whole "ignorant dickhead users commenting shit on every other rant" and technicalities like notifs on the Android app always disappearing kinda killed it for me... Not gonna remove my account and I still check in via the Windows app every now and then but I pretty much silently left.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
